John 5:14 says, “Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, ‘See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.’” Man has reasons for doing whatever he does, many excuses for his failings. This makes it difficult to admit and take responsibility for his wrongdoings. You are responsible for your actions, for whatever you give your attention to.
The way Jesus Christ addressed this man shows that the man might have been a deliberate sinner, who knows sin but commits it willingly. In Psalm 51:1-19, the Psalmist took responsibility for his actions. If you make excuses for your sin, your sin will not be excused. Correction makes the future possible. Jesus knows you, your name, thoughts; He hears you when you call and sees each tear.
Remember that when Jesus Christ met this man, He asked him, “What do you want me to do for you? Do you want to get well?” Jesus Christ is asking you the same question now: ‘Do you want to get well? Do you want to be free? Do you want to be delivered? Do you want to be saved?’
Do you want every weapon, design of the enemies against you to fail? Own up to your wrongdoings! Come to Jesus Christ with a repentant spirit and He will accept you the way you are. He will give you a new life and new beginning. Sin is a poison to your soul and spirit. It causes poverty, sickness in your life but when it is pardoned, you will be healed. Jesus gave that warning because He knew that those who are healed, saved from the punishment of sin are likely to go back to sin when the pain is over.
A deliberate sinner must reconsider. Obeying God at first seems difficult because it involves a turning point against your usual way of doing things. If you must resist bad influences, you must stand for what you believe in. If you cannot stand for what you believe, you will definitely fail by it. I pray that God renew us, our mind, spirit and body for His Glory, in Jesus’ mighty name!
