Text: 1 Kings 19: 1-3

Elijah went home and was enjoying the victories:
fire from heaven, national revival, 1st rain in 3.5 years, and outrunning the king’s chariot.

Then he got a message from the first lady of the land- Queen Jezebel, and ran for his life.

Elijah was wise.

•If you learn to run today, you’ll be alive to fight tomorrow.
•Satan is a fallen angel. He doesn’t sleep nor get tired because he was not created to tire. Isaiah 14: 12-15
•Thankfully, our God doesn’t sleep nor slumber. Psalm 121: 1-4
Nor get tired. Isaiah 40:28
•He is the One who checkmates satan.
Isaiah 54: 16-17
•Satan will be chained for eternity. Revelation 20: 1-3
But until then, he roams around freely. Job 1 & 2
•It is most probable that the most dangerous time in a Christian’s life is immediately after a victory.
•Christian, seek not yet repose!
Some examples of those who won battles and faced attacks right after:
+ Moses. Exodus 14: 21-28; 15: 1-21, 22-26
After many victories such as the red sea parting and their enemies drowning, the Israelites turned on Moses.
+ Joshua.
Joshua 6: 1-27; 7: 1-12
A shout from the Israelites defeated the mighty city of Jericho.
Yet, they found the tiny town of Ai to be insurmountable.
+ Gideon. Judges 7
He defeated enemies so numerous the Bible called them grasshoppers, with an army of only 300 men.
But he fell into a trap made by his own hands.
Judges 8: 22-27
+ Samson
+ David.
From an unknown boy to champion and chief warrior. 1 Samuel 17: 1-54; 18: 1-5, 6-12
But ended up being hunted by the king.
+ Daniel.
Daniel 1: 1-20
Daniel and his fellows became the best wise men when they refused to eat the king’s men.
Just a while after, the threat of death came. Daniel 2
+ Peter
Peter proclaimed that Jesus was Lord and the Messiah. Yet, shortly after then, the devil spoke through him.
Matthew 16: 13-19, 21-23
•When you feel like you’ve won a victory, stand! 1 Corinthians 10:12, Ephesians 6: 10-13, 1 Peter 4:7
•The closer you are to the goal, the more careful you must become.
