The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced Barr. Ladipo Johnson as its presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s running partner.

Johnson is from Lagos State in South-West Nigeria, and he ran for governor.

The NNPP made the news via its official Twitter handle, @nnpphqabuja1, which was also verified by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Major Agbor.

“Road to 2023: Bar Ladipo Johnson is our great party’s Vice Presidential candidate,” the party said.

LEADERSHIP Friday, our sister website, had previously reported that three candidates from the country’s south had been evaluated as potential running mates for Kwankwanso.

As president of the African Institute of Enterprise Development and Management, Johnson has urged Nigerians to awaken from their lethargy and take meaningful efforts to save the country from further decline under the burden of poverty.

Johnson, who also serves as the convener of the ‘T[b]he Johnson Initiative for Positive Impact[/b],’ has previously criticized the Federal Government’s economic policies, claiming that they enslave Nigerians.

In a previous interview, Johnson expressed remorse that the people had to tolerate such harsh rules, adding to their ongoing misery.

According to Johnson, the increased rate of the Value Added Tax (VAT) to 7.5 percent, as well as other connected taxes on consumer goods and services, such as the graded percentages of up to 6 percent stamp duty on rental and leasing agreements, have caused further hardship for Nigerians.
